The firm's managing partner, Raul R. Sotolongo, a 1972 graduate of North Carolina State University, is a registered architect in the state of Florida and member of the American Institute of Architects and National Association of Home Builders. He is a life director of the Builders Association of South Florida and past Chairman of the Codes Committee for the Builders Association of South Florida, where he spearheaded the drive to streamline the building permit process. Mr. Sotolongo has appeared as a featured speaker on residential design at the national conventions of the National Association of Home Builders, and other forums. In addition, the Urban Land Institute Conference at Cleveland, Ohio selected Mr. Sotolongo as one of five U.S experts to speak on residential design.
At the forefront of design technology, Sotolongo Salman Henderson Architects introduced the Design Wizard, a software program created with Westbrooke Communities that allowed home buyers to customize production homes to their needs. Design Wizard attracted worldwide attention and Mr. Sotolongo appeared on CNN Headline News and numerous television and print news segments describing the software program. In addition, Hispanic Business Magazine named Mr. Sotolongo 1997 Hispanic Entrepreneur of the year for developing Design Wizard.
Partner Jennifer Salman, who holds a Master's Degree in Architecture from Cornell University, has been with the firm since 1995. Ms. Salman directs the multifamily residential division, as well as Construction Administration for the firm.
Partner Rex Henderson, a graduate of Christchurch University in New Zealand, has been with the firm since 1999. Mr. Henderson manages and directs the implementation of the firm's designs into construction documents as well as quality control and the coordination of the architectural drawings with the projects' structural and MEP consultants.
Associate Miguel Portela is the Director of Planning. A graduate of Tulane University School of Architecture, Mr. Portela has been with the company since 1983. Mr. Portela is responsible for the site planning design and coordination of the firm's projects.
Associate Felipe Trelles is the Director of Design. A graduate of Bolivariana University in Colombia, Mr. Trelles has been with the company since 2001. Mr. Trelles is responsible for the design and design supervision of the firm's projects.
